Teach Ag Ambassador PROGRAM

2013 Teach Ag Ambassador Application

Each year we select an elite group of agricultural education majors to represent the profession of agricultural education and encourage others to consider a profession in agricultural education.

Position Description
The National Teach Ag Campaign is seeking the nation’s most outstanding agricultural education majors to represent the profession as National Teach Ag Ambassadors at the 2013 National FFA Convention career show, October 27-November 1st in Louisville, KY.

Teach Ag Ambassadors will be responsible for creating an agriculture-based lesson to deliver in a Louisville area middle school and staffing the interactive Teach Ag booth at the FFA career expo.  It will be their job to encourage FFA members to consider a career in agricultural education by engaging convention attendees in conversations about their future career goals, answering questions about majoring in agricultural education, and portraying the profession in a positive light.

Ambassadors will also be responsible for the logistical operations of the booth, including booth setup and tear-down, staffing the interactive activities, general booth maintenance and other Teach Ag related activities that occur during the National FFA Convention.

Selection for ambassadorship is a competitive process, and being selected means we believe you are one of the nation’s best and brightest future agriculture teachers.  Final selections may also include a phone interview.

Ambassadors are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel to and from the National FFA Convention (selected ambassadors will be notified should funds become available to cover travel).  The National Teach Ag Campaign will provide accommodations during the convention and reimbursement for meals.  Meal reimbursement is capped at $45/day.

Ambassadors are required to be in Louisville by 3pm on Sunday, October 27th for orientation and lesson practice.  Ambassadors must also be available the rest of the week for booth setup, lesson delivery, booth coverage and must stay through booth tear-down and loading on Friday, November 1st.  In addition, ambassadors must attend a mandatory training webinar in July or August (an exact time and date will be arranged with the selected ambassadors).  Anyone who does not attend this webinar or who cannot stay for the duration of the FFA convention cannot participate in the ambassador program.

Additional ambassador opportunities may be available as additional funding for the program is secured.
