"Ag Ed Lesson Plans in PowerPoint Format"

One of the most common philosophies in agricultural education is, “Don’t recreate the wheel. Take ideas and expand on them. Change them to meet your needs.” John Jones, agriculture teacher at Glen Rose High School in Malvern, Arkansas, agrees fully. Jones came up with a way to network all of the agricultural educators in the country. How? Just visit the Glen Rose FFA Chapter website. Here he has posted a page with over 400 lesson plans from 17 states. This includes lessons from college students, agriculture teachers, and student teachers. This idea hit home with the ag ed professors at Texas A&M University, who require students in teaching methods courses to prepare a lesson and e-mail it to Jones to be posted on the website.

These resources were posted originally on the Fouke FFA Chapter website; however, since Jones is now teaching at the Glen Rose High School, the resources have been move to that school’s website.

NAAE Convention Speakers

The 2002 NAAE Convention featured outstanding keynote speakers. Keynote speakers included Dr. Patrick Moore (left photo below), founder of Greenspirit in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Moore’s presentation was Environmentalism for the 21st Century. He emphasized making sound environmental decisions based on science and research to ensure the future of the world. High quality and useful information is available from the Greenspirit website at http://www.greenspirit.com.

Applied Technologies (http://www.applied-technologies.com/) sponsored the keynote speaker for the second general session. The speaker was Terry Fleck (right photo below), “The Attitude Doctor.” Fleck presented The Attitude Virus. The “doctor’s” humorous presentation made all convention participants think about the importance of being positive in our day-to-day lives as we interact with family, colleagues, and friends.
