Board Committee Members:

The NAAE Board met as committee of the whole and took the following action:

Accepted Recommendations

1. Website Updates-Moved by Paul Larson, seconded by Harold Eckler, to refer to staff the need to update and upgrade the NAAE website. Motion carried.

2. Website Links to Instructional Materials-Moved by Jeff Maierhofer, seconded by Harold Eckler, to add a link to the ag educator’s (Arkansas) website that has instructional PowerPoint presentations, to the links section of the NAAE website. Motion carried.

3. Website Feedback Icon-Moved by Allan Sulser, seconded by Harold Eckler, to add an icon to the NAAE website to allow users to provide evaluative comments and feedback to the webmaster concerning the website. Motion carried.

4. Promoting Student Membership Growth-Motion by Bill Hunter, seconded by Paul Larson, to send a letter to state associations to encourage them to provide teacher training institutions with literature and to make personal contacts to promote the use of the NAAE instructional PowerPoint presentation, which would result in membership growth. Motion carried.

5. State FFA Convention Presentation-Moved by Paul Larson, seconded by Lee James, to have the staff review and edit the suggested presentation from the Region III Marketing Committee and provide state associations with a presentation that could be used at state FFA association conventions that would promote opportunities in ag education. Motion carried.

6. PR Gifts-Moved by Jeff Maierhofer, seconded by Allan Sulser, to accept this recommendation and refer to staff to identify an appropriate item. Motion carried.

7. Mission Statement on all Board Committee Reports-Lee James moved, Paul Larson seconded, to accept this recommendation. Motion carried.

Rejected Recommendations

1. NAAE Listserv Automatic Sign-Up-Moved by Harold Eckler, seconded by Lee James, to reject this recommendation. The motion to reject was carried.

Rationale: The board believes that members should continue to be allowed to sigh up voluntarily.

2. Printing NAAE Leadership Handbook-Moved by Jeff Maierhofer, seconded by Roger Teeple, to reject this recommendation. The motion to reject was carried.

Rationale: Our strategic plan directs us to increase the use of technology to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Referred to National Committee

1. University Awards/Recognition-Moved by Roger Teeple, seconded by Lee James, to refer this recommendation to the national committee to further develop the list of criteria and other methods to recognize universities and ag education student organizations, such as provide sponsorship for awards or plaques for activities similar to the professional state awards. Motion carried.
