National FFA Alumni and Campbell Barn Project
Voting concluded last evening for the National FFA Alumni and Campbell Barn Project, the casted votes selected the following as the five barns to be restored this spring:

  • Providence Grove High School in Climax, N.C
  • The Bowers School Farm in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
  • The Just Wait and See Farm in Union Bridge, Md.
  • The Dull Family Farm in Thorntown, Ind.
  • The Augie Fudala Farm in Bark River, Mich.

This is an exciting opportunity for our five barns and was a wonderful opportunity for the other nominated barns to share their story. Please view the five selected barns at www.helpgrowyoursoup.com

2010 National FFA Week
The 2010 National FFA Week planning materials are available at www.ffa.org/ffaweek. Find the official FFA Week Planning Guide, logos, certificates, helpful templates and much more. These tools and resources are great for members to download as they plan for a great FFA Week in February.

2010 Scholarship Program Now Live
Each year, the National FFA Organization awards approximately $2 million in scholarships designed to fit the diversity of our applicants. The 2010 Scholarship Application is now available on ffa.org. The 2010 guidebook and a host of helpful tools, including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and a list of participating Ford dealers, are also available.

Remember, all applications must be submitted online by 5:00 p.m. EST February 15, 2010. A completed signature page postmarked no later than February 22, 2010 is required in order to be eligible.

NAAE Summer Internships
NAAE has three summer internship positions available for 2010. There are two positions for a communications intern and one for an advocacy intern. All positions will last for 8 weeks.

The communications interns will be based at the NAAE office in Lexington, Ky. These interns will write award citations, news releases, create presentation scripts and slide shows, as well as other communications-related tasks. The advocacy internship will be located in Washington, D.C., and will be responsible for assisting with national advocacy for school-based agricultural education.

President Obama Honored Teachers and Mentors, Announced Key Partnerships in “Educate to Innovate” Campaign
On Wednesday January 6, at his second "Educate to Innovate" Campaign event for excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) education, President Obama honored educators from across the country for awards received for excellence in mathematics and science teaching and mentoring. The President announced key new partnerships in his campaign to help reach the Administration's goal of moving American students from the middle to the top of the pack in science and math achievement over the next decade. In November, President Obama announced a series of high-powered partnerships involving leading companies, foundations, non-profit organizations, and science and engineering societies dedicated to motivating and inspiring young people across America to excel in science and math.
