Are you unsure of the difference between animal welfare and animal rights? Do you understand the impact each has on the treatment of animals and the availability and cost of animal-derived products? This webinar will discuss how different segments of society view animals and why. It will also explain how disconnects between these segments have lead to closer scrutiny of animal use and care practices and show how well-intentioned efforts to improve animals’ lives can translate into both positives and negatives for animal welfare. This webinar tackles a sensitive and timely topic that translates into hot scientific and legal issues at the state and national levels.
You will gain resources and tools to teach students the facts about how society does and should treat the animals that impact all of our lives!
This webinar is sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Association as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

This webinar will focus on the challenges in transitioning engines used in small power and gasoline farm equipment, automobiles, utility vehicles, chainsaws, lawnmowers, ATVs, motorcycles, generators, boats and marine engines and all other engine equipment to use greater amounts of ethanol and other cellulosic fuels in fuel blends.
The United States Congress passed the Energy Independence & Security Act (EISA) in 2008. The Act mandates a substantial increase in ethanol and cellulosic fuel use. The current mandate to use 9 billion gallons of ethanol in 2008 will increase to 36 billion gallons of ethanol or cellulosic fuel in 2022. This mandate will likely change the fuel we use every day! The current gasoline blend of up to 10 percent ethanol is being sold as general purpose fuel. Meeting the increasing EISA targets will likely mean fuel will contain more than 10 percent and up to 85 percent ethanol. The implications, challenges in both use and production, and change strategies for the manufacturers and users of gasoline powered vehicles and equipment are of great concern and will have substantial effect in the marketplace. More than 250 million Americans own and operate over 400 million legacy vehicles and equipment and changes in fuel will likely affect legacy products.
This webinar is sponsored by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
