NAAE at the National FFA Convention

Bring Your Students and TAG your Replacement

NAAE will once again have a major presence at the National FFA Convention’s career fair, October 21-23 in Indianapolis.  Bring your students by the boothso we can talk to them about teaching agriculture, win some great prizes, and have a lot of fun!

Play Teach Ag Tag

Calling all advisors!  Sign up to play our game show “Teach Ag Tag” and let your students find out if they think like an ag teacher.  Modeled after the old Newlywed game, a team of one advisor and one to four students will try to get matching answers to questions about ag-related questions as well as questions that give some insight about what it’s like to be an ag teacher.

Everyone who plays will get a Teach Ag T-shirt, and the winners of each game will be entered in a grand prize drawing to have Dr. Larry Case, National FFA Advisor, make a special guest appearance at your school sometime during the ’09-10 school year.

Up to three teams will play against one another at once, so get your closest rival chapters to sign up and show them who’s boss!   Games will be played every 30 minutes; Wednesday, October 21, 12:30pm – 5:00pm, Thursday, October 22, 8:30am-5:00pm, and Friday, October 23, 8:30am-3pm.  Game sign-ups are first come, first-served, so email Julie Fritsch at to reserve your slot today!

Visit the Future Teacher VIP Lounge

Are you bringing students to the convention who you know have the potential to become great ag teachers?  Bring them to the Future Teacher VIP Lounge!  It's a walk-through display filled with the tools of the trade for ag teachers, plus testimonials from teachers about what it's like to do their job.

Students who visit the lounge will be encouraged to sign up for the Teach Ag Campaign, and will be given information on getting started on a career in agricultural education.

Encourage Students to Join the Teach Ag Campaign

All students who stop by our booth can register to join the National Council for Agricultural Education’s Teach Ag Campaign.  They’ll receive regular updates about becoming an ag teacher, plus get access to resources that can help them along the way.  We will share their information with schools who have degree programs in agricultural education, and we’ll track those students throughout their educational careers and find out how many end up teaching agriculture.

If you have a student who's not coming to convention, but you'd like to sign up for the campaign, email Julie Fritsch at

NAAE at Teacher’s World

The membership service portion of the NAAE booth this year will be in Teacher’s World – a new section at the FFA Convention Career show just for – you guessed it – teachers!  Stop by the booth to see the NAAE board, find out who’s running for President-elect, ask membership questions, and most importantly, shoot your testimonial for the Teach Ag Day Video!

Teach Ag Video Shoot

We are creating a video to help teachers celebrate National Teach Ag Day (read more about National Teach Ag Day here). The video will be a collection of testimonials about why teaching ag is a great career, along with shots of teachers in action.  We will be distributing this, along with other resource materials, to ag educators around the U.S. to use in their classrooms on National Teach Ag Day.

The video shoot will take place at the National FFA Convention Teachers’ World Area on the Thursday of the National FFA Convention (October 22).  We would like for you stop by the booth to record your comments.  If you'd like we can send you a list of questions and prompts in advance to get your thoughts flowing. If you have questions or would like more information, email Ellen Thompson at Otherwise, just stop by on Thursday!
