NAAE Leading National Teach Ag Day

As the professional organization for agricultural educators in the United States, it only makes sense that NAAE would play a large role in leading efforts to recruit future ag educators to the profession. One way it is doing that is by taking the lead in organizing National Teach Ag Day.

Teach Ag Day is a national campaign to encourage agricultural educators to share why they went into ag education with their students and encourage those students to consider a career as an agricultural educator.

February 25th (Thursday of National FFA Week) was chosen because so many potential future ag teachers are in FFA, but National Teach Ag Day efforts will include agricultural education at every level, from elementary level ag literacy efforts to postsecondary agriculture programs.

Celebrate National Teach Ag Day!

There are some very important ways you can help us spread the word and make National Teach Ag Day a success.

Mark your calendar and tell everyone you know to celebrate National Teach Ag Day.

Plan to include a lesson or activity about a career in ag educaiton, or show our Teach Ag Video on the day. NAAE is developing a variety of resources to help teachers introduce the topic on that day, including a video, suggested activities, and giveaway items. We will make those available as they are developed.

NAAE will also have a contest for postsecondary agricultural education organizations, such as Ag Ed Societies and Alpha Tau Alpha chapters to see who can celebrate National Teach Ag Day in the most unique way.

National Teach Ag Day is a component of the National Teach Ag Campaign, an initiative of the National Council for Agricultural Education. NAAE is the lead organization for all National Teach Ag Campaign efforts. For more information about the National Teach Ag Campaign, see the story in this News & Views.
