During the first session of the 2000 NAAE Convention in San Diego, California, NAAE President Mike Cox presented the report of the nominating committee. Paul Jaure was nominated for 2000-01 NAAE President. James Dawley and Bryan Gause were nominated for 2000-01 NAAE President Elect.

Monday, December 4, 2000

During the second session of the 2000 NAAE Convention in San Diego, California, by general consensus, nominations were closed and these individuals were placed officially in nomination for the respective offices: Paul Jaure for 2000-01 NAAE President; and James Dawley and Bryan Gause for 2000-01 NAAE President Elect.

Wednesday, December 6, 2000

During the final session of the 2000 NAAE Convention in San Diego, California, the following business was transacted.

President Mike Cox called the meeting to order at 12:10 p.m.

Mike Cox introduced Mitch Coleman (OR) to present the invocation.

Mike Cox seated the official convention delegates and established the counts needed for majority and two-thirds majority votes. There were 149 official voting delegates present. For a majority, 75 votes would be needed; for a two-thirds majority, 99 votes would be needed.

Mike Cox appointed Andy Seibel (VA) to be parliamentarian.

Mike Cox announced that the Committee of Tellers would be Terry Hughes (chair) (NY), James Knoth (TX) and Dale Butcher (IN).

Mike Cox then conducted the election of the 2000-01 NAAE president and president elect. Jeff Maierhofer (IL) moved to elect by acclamation Paul Jaure as 2000-01 NAAE President. Robin McLean (NJ) seconded the motion. The motion carried by voice vote.

Mike Cox called for voting by ballot for 2000-01 NAAE president elect. Following the voting, the tellers were excused to count the votes.

Committee reports were presented as follows:

Member ServicesóChairperson Terrie Shank (MD) presented the report and moved for acceptance of the report. Dave Olson (NE) seconded the motion. The motion carried.

FinanceóChairperson Benny Bell (LA) presented the report and moved for acceptance of the report. James Knoth (TX) seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Policy and BylawsóChairperson Greg Curlin (IN) presented the report and moved for acceptance of the report. Doyle Justis (MO) seconded the motion. The motion carried.

DiversityóChairperson Ron Worth (MI) presented the report and moved for acceptance of the report. Clyde Johnson (IA) seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Public RelationsóChairperson Kevin Price (IL) presented the report and moved for acceptance of the report. Bob Buxton (OH) seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Legislative AffairsóChairperson Marcus Morgan (WA) presented the report and moved for acceptance of the report. Dick Aide (WI) seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Strategic PlanningóChairperson Jeff Maierhofer (IL) presented the report and moved for acceptance of the report. Larry Seibel (OH) seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Mike Cox called for other business to be presented to the delegates at the convention. No additional business was presented.

Sarah Osborn Welty presented gifts of appreciation to Susan Vaughn, Connie Tyler, Jay Jackman, and Mike Cox.

Jay Jackman recognized the outgoing president, Mike Cox, and the two outgoing regional vice presidents, James Dawley and Bryan Gause. The outgoing officer awards were sponsored by AAVIM; Von Peavy (GA) addressed the convention on AAVIMís behalf.

Mike Cox presented his outgoing president address. He then announced the results of the president and president elect election, as follows: Paul Jaure, 2000-01 NAAE President, and Bryan Gause, 2000-01 NAAE President Elect.

Mike Cox then installed the 2000-01 NAAE Officers, including the new president, Paul Jaure, the new president elect, Bryan Gause, and the new regional vice presidents who were Larry Long, Region II Vice President, Jeff Maierhofer, Region IV Vice President, and Sarah Osborn Welty, Region VI Vice President (who was elected to complete the remainder of the Region VI term vacated in March 2000 by Ray Chelewski).

Newly elected president Paul Jaure then presented the gavel to retiring president Mike Cox. Then President Jaure delivered his inaugural address.

With no further business to transact, NAAE President Paul Jaure declared the meeting adjourned at 1:40 p.m.
