tThe first session of the 1998 NAAE Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana,
NAAE President Duane Fisher presented the report of the nominating committee.
Tom Kremer was nominated for 1998-99 NAAE President. Marc Beitia
and Mike Cox were nominated for 1998-99 NAAE President Elect. Thursday,
December 10, 1998 During
the second session of the 1998 NAAE Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana,
by general consensus, nominations were closed and these individuals were
placed officially in nomination for the respective offices: Tom
Kremer for 1998-99 NAAE President; and Marc Beitia and Mike Cox for 1998-99
NAAE President Elect. Saturday,
December 12, 1998 During
the third and final session of the 1998 NAAE Convention in New Orleans,
Louisiana, the following business was transacted. President
Duane Fisher seated the official convention delegates and established
the counts needed for majority and two-thirds majority votes. There
were 155 official voting delegates present. For a majority, 78 votes
would be needed; for a two-thirds majority, 104 votes would be needed. Duane
Fisher appointed Dan Leinen (IA) to be parliamentarian. Duane
Fisher announced that the Committee of Tellers would be Jeff Maierhofer
(chair) (IL), Elizabeth Morgan (ME), and Denny Wallace (WA). Duane
Fisher called for votes for president and president elect, respectively.
The tellers were excused to count the votes. Committee
reports (copies attached) were presented as follows: FinanceChairperson
Dick Aide (WI) presented the report, which was approved as presented. Policy
and BylawsChairperson Elaine Lewis (WA) presented the report,
which was approved as presented. DiversityChairperson
Susan Crank (OH) presented the report, which was approved as presented. Public
RelationsChairperson Rick Bockhop (WI) presented the report,
which was approved as presented. Member
ServicesChairperson Cherylann Stewart (IA) presented the report,
which was approved as presented. Legislative
AffairsChairperson Chuck Stranberg (MN) presented the report,
which was approved as presented. Strategic
PlanningChairperson Brenda Oldfield (KY) presented the report,
which was approved as presented. Duane
Fisher announced the results of the vote for president. Tom Kremer
was elected 1998-99 NAAE President. Duane
Fisher announced the results of the vote for president elect. Mike
Cox was elected 1998-99 NAAE President Elect. Duane
Fisher welcomed Tom Kremer, 1998-99 NAAE President, Mike Cox, 1998-99
NAAE President Elect, Sue Poland, 1998-2001 NAAE Region I Vice President,
and Ray Chelewski, 1998-2001 NAAE Region VI Vice President. With no further business to transact, newly elected NAAE President Tom Kremer declared the meeting adjourned at 2:45 p.m. |
