NAAE takes pride in recognizing excellence in agricultural education as well as individuals and organizations that make outstanding contributions to the profession. There is currently a national shortage of agricultural educators, and NAAE has taken the lead in recruiting students to think about a career in agricultural education. Join the Teach Ag Campaign, find resources to help you talk to your students about a career in ag ed, or help your students find a college or university with an ag ed program. Student members enjoy all of the same benefits as active individual members, including the same level of liability coverage (see above), but NAAE also has programs and initiatives targeted specifically for those who are preparing to become agricultural educators.
Student members are welcome to apply to attend the FAST Symposium which occurs at the NAAE Convention each year. FAST offers student members a focused professional development experience within the larger NAAE Convention. Attending FAST connects you directly to the NAAE, giving you access to industry leaders in ag education, relevant workshops for ag educators, and meaningful conversations with professionals in the field. FAST participants build career-ready skills, expand their professional network, and gain skills to help them succeed during student teaching and as they entered into the profession, all while becoming part of a national community committed to growth, leadership, and excellence in agricultural education. This scholarship can be used to assist the student teacher with expenses related to travel, lodging, class or testing fees as well as other expenses the student teacher finds beneficial during this crucial time. NAAE will award $1500 scholarships to students who are majoring in agricultural education during their student teaching semester. Applications are due in May for the upcoming year, so double-check to make sure you apply at the right time. Learn more.
Each year, NAAE selects an elite group of agricultural education majors to represent the profession and encourage others to teach agriculture. This program is only open to current NAAE student members. Learn more.
NAAE holds a contest for collegiate agricultural education student organizations to show their Teach Ag pride! The contest changes each year, so follow this link for details.
State affiliates of NAAE are typically made up of individual members who can take advantage of the benefits listed above, but in addition, NAAE offers a few services that can be best utilized at the state affiliate level.
In addition to what NAAE does with federal legislation and advocacy, NAAE can provide some assistance in working through state-level legislative issues by consulting with the state association's advocacy committee, working to help place legislative alerts on the NAAE Legislative action center, and more.
